Cecilia Cassini was drawn toward color, texture and fashion at a young age. In preschool while other kids were gluing puff balls and macaroni to paper, Cecilia was attaching them to her dresses. When she was five, Cecilia snatched her ten-year old sisters dress from Grandma, and with a pair of scissors and some ponytail bands, resized her big sisters frock to fit her dimunitive frame.
The next year, Cecilia's parents gave their child her first sewing machine, and the rest was history. By the time she was eight, the grade-schooler had created her own fashion logo and the next year held her first trunk show, nearly selling out her fifty-plus handmade dresses.
She has been named the youngest fashion designer by the director of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, and designs dresses for Hollywood regulars like Kelly Osbourne, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and Modern Family co-stars, Ariel Winter and Sophia Vergara.
She was recognized in 2012 as a recipient of Prudential’s Spirit of Community Award for her volunteer work, contributing to homeless shelters, and donating her time and creations to help give underprivileged children back-to-school clothes.
Part of Cecilia's success and happiness is due to her parents' helping her discover her passions and develop them into her strengths. Cecilia is spotlighted in Secrets of Safety-Net Parenting in chapter three, "Passion and Strength"

“Listen to our children’s interests. Tune into their spirits, not what we want them to be or what we think they ought to do.”
- Michelle Cassini (Cecilia's mother)
